HIGHLIGHTS:

TECHO: La Otra Yo

Year-round, a portion of every purchase at La Cosecha supports the work of EDENS’ La Cosecha Foundation, a nonprofit with a mission to support social, cultural and economic prosperity. The Foundation’s primary beneficiary is TECHO, a mostly volunteer organization present in 19 Latin American countries that seeks to end poverty for millions of people.

Over 75% of TECHO’s community leaders are women—each living a different reality in the most unequal region on the planet. Yet, they all share the same innate desire to keep challenging the status quo and move forward. “La Otra Yo” (the other you) is a new multimedia campaign launched by TECHO that amplifies the stories and voices of female changemakers in Central and South America so that supporters from around the world can help empower them to succeed. Fundación de Artesanías de Chile “Heirs of Llalliñ”: September 1 – 30

Weaving is a millenary form of communication, where indigenous collect the cosmogony of their people. It is said that the makuñ or men’s blankets and the trariwe -or girdles- worn by women are the books of

Mapuche culture. To rescue and revalue that knowledge, Fundación de Artesanías de Chile proposed to 17 artists from La Araucanía region to discover a valuable collection of more than 200 blankets and trariwe belonging to the National Museum of Natural History. After visiting the museum, the artisans created a series of makuñ and trariwe, using traditional techniques like ñimikan and trarikan. With the support of Conadi, the collection “Herederas de Llalliñ” or “Heirs of Llalliñ” will launch at La Cosecha.

Guatemalan Independence Bicentennial: September 18

More than a retailer, NOVA BOSSA supports cultural diplomacy and Latin American brands that preserve traditions and champion better lives.

On September 18, the premier lifestyle brand with a social mission will co-host a one-day cultural festival to mark the bicentennial of Guatemala’s independence in partnership with the Embassy of Guatemala and La Cosecha. In addition to special events showcasing the best of the country’s gastronomy and cultural traditions, NOVA BOSSA will present a capsule collection of fashion and home décor by top master artisans on-site at La Cosecha and at novabossa.com.

“Guatemala’s rich tradition of handicrafts dates to pre-Hispanic times and provides economic stability to countless communities. It is a privilege to present these extraordinary products to American audiences while also investing in artisans in a time of great need. I look forward to welcoming everyone to La Cosecha for a full day of celebration.” Carolina Furukrona, Founder & CEO, NOVA BOSSA.
