Recipe: Kapha Tea

At Andrews Square, SAMA Food for Balance offers a flavorful Kapha tea. An Ayurvedic approach to the classic Indian Masala Chai, Kapha tea is a caffeine-free South African Red Rooibos combined with traditional Chai spices to warm the body and inspire motivation, without taxing the nervous system. This recipe is an uplifting blend that is antioxidant-rich and aids digestion.

Tea Ingredients: Ginger, Lemongrass, Cinnamon, Red Rooibos, Black Pepper, Fennel, Cardamom, Clove

DIRECTIONS:

  • Pour 8oz of freshly boiled water over 1 tbsp. of tea
  • For full-bodied flavor, cover & steep for 4-6 minutes
  • Strain herbs from tea
  • Explore creative flavor profiles (below)
  • Sip throughout the day to stimulate the senses


Creative Flavor Profiles:

Edible flowers
Adding a flowers of Honeysuckle will add a silky and unique taste to the tea and will strike out opposing flavors. Experiment with any edible flowers to explore your favorite flavor profiles.

Almond or coconut milk

Almond and coconut milk will add the creamy, velvety texture to your tea while being lighter and healthier than heavy cream

Sorbet or ice cream
Spring is finally here, so consider turning your hot beverage to a cold, refreshing one. A light amount of citrus sorbets, frozen yogurts or cream-based ice creams are a great way to add a sweet flavor while adding texture to your drink.
