RiNo is at the Heart of Art

Share

Originally an industrial hub comprised of auto repair shops, factories and warehouses, RiNo’s grittiness and affordability attracted young creatives and artists over the last two decades.

At the helm of the evolution was well-known Denver graffiti artist Robin Munro. His passion for street art and his community was the catalyst in the creation of the “largest independent street art project and event,” CRUSH Walls.

In 2010, Robin partnered with RiNo Art District to elevate and expand CRUSH Walls. With shared mission of Creative Rituals Under Social Harmony, the partnership “celebrates the craft of graffiti and street artists who bring life to walls while maintaining the unique cultural identity in this rapidly evolving community.”

Our inaugural year being part of the RiNo neighborhood, EDENS partnered with CRUSH Walls to celebrate community engagement and creative expression. Our three blocks serve as the central gathering place for CRUSH and the very heart of RiNo.

These city blocks are an intersection where passionate artists congregate and admirers come to rejoice.

In its 10th year, the district art scene transformed the alleyways and façades over seven days, throughout 30 street blocks and 77 art events. More than 80 resident and internationally renowned graffiti artists, muralists, sculptors and creative makers “brought art out of the galleries and into the streets.”

Seventeen walls along three blocks were activated by notable artists Shepard Fairey, Cryptik, Poni and Detour.

Internationally known artist Shepard Fairey showcased a larger-than-life mural “Power and Equality” grabbed global attention, propelling a universal message of equality, self-respect and empowerment.
